The ongoing controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina over their episode on India’s Got Latent has sparked widespread debate. While the duo faces backlash and legal action, actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor has come forward to voice her support, questioning the prioritization of issues by lawmakers.
The controversy gained momentum after the Maharashtra Police filed a case against Ranveer, Samay, and others involved in the controversial episode. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Akansha shared her thoughts, reposting a statement highlighting the legal developments.
Expressing her frustration, she wrote:
“Guys, I think I’m losing my mind… So marital rape is ok? Any and all rape is ok?”
She added:
“Killing us with hazardous air quality is fine. People literally falling into potholes and dying is fine. Pay inequality, bribery, caste system, taxes that are killing the middle class are all MAST! But apne moral standing par koi kaise dhabba dal sakta hai?”
Akansha’s strong remarks come amidst calls for strict action against Ranveer and Samay. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has released a press statement urging an immediate ban on India’s Got Latent. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also weighed in, emphasizing the need to respect the limits of freedom of expression. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi stated she plans to raise the issue in Parliament.
Uorfi Javed Defends Samay Raina

Earlier, Uorfi Javed extended her support to her friend Samay Raina. While she acknowledged that the comments made during the controversial episode were “distasteful,” she argued that they do not warrant imprisonment.
Uorfi wrote:
“You don’t like certain people, you don’t like the things they do or say, but demanding for them to go to jail for that? Are you serious? Ummmm… I don’t know. Samay is a friend, I have his back, but even the rest of the people on the panel — what they said was distasteful, yes, but I don’t think they deserve to go to jail for that.”
About the Controversy
The uproar began when, during an episode of India’s Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia posed an offensive question to a contestant, asking:
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
The question quickly drew severe backlash across social media, leading to Ranveer issuing an apology. He also urged the creators to remove the insensitive parts of the episode. Other guests on the episode included Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh.
As the debate intensifies, the controversy raises larger questions about freedom of expression, societal priorities, and the boundaries of humor in public discourse.
